MY NEXT STEP

At Frinton Free Church, we believe that a disciple of Jesus loves him with their head, heart and hands — and helps others to do the same.

Discipleship is a lifelong journey, and wherever you are in your relationship with God, there is always a next step to take.

We’d love to help you discover what that next step might be. On this page you’ll find an overview of what this way of discipleship looks like, along with links to resources and courses that can support you as you grow in faith and deepen your walk with Jesus.

OUR FRAMEWORK

We believe that following Jesus shapes how we think, how we love, and how we live.

These three areas — Head, Heart and Hands — help us grow in a balanced, Christ-centred way.

Loving Jesus with my Head

Loving Jesus with my head means knowing and trusting who Jesus is and engaging seriously with his teachings. It’s about growing in understanding, asking honest questions, and allowing God’s truth to shape the way I see the world.

This can look like:

  • Reading and studying the Bible on my own and with others

  • Growing in understanding of God’s salvation plan

  • Engaging with the life and mission of Jesus

  • Wrestling with challenging parts of Scripture

  • Understanding the role of the church in God’s mission

Loving Jesus with my Heart

Loving Jesus with my heart means developing a deep, personal and living relationship with God. It’s about devotion, worship, prayer and allowing the Holy Spirit to shape who I am from the inside out.

This can look like:

  • Growing in relationship with Father, Son and Holy Spirit

  • Developing a devotional life of prayer, Scripture and spiritual disciplines

  • Maturing in fellowship and relationship with others in the church

  • Living a life of surrender and obedience to Jesus

  • Being open and honest about struggles within a supportive small group

  • Growing compassion for the last, least and the lost

Loving Jesus with my Hands

Loving Jesus with my hands means living out my faith through action. It’s about serving others, using the gifts God has given me, and helping to build God’s Kingdom both locally and globally.

This can look like:

  • Discovering and using my spiritual gifts

  • Living in a way that makes the Jesus way of life visible to others

  • Actively serving people on their everyday frontlines

  • Growing in confidence to share my story of God’s grace

  • Serving the last, least and the lost

  • Supporting local and global church ministries

  • Resourcing the church with time, finances and prayer

Discipleship isn’t about doing everything at once — it’s about taking the next faithful step. Whether that’s joining a group, exploring Alpha, serving on a team, deepening your prayer life, or learning more about Jesus, there’s always a way to grow.
